Pastor Josh Miller
Pastor Josh Miller Pastor Josh has served as pastor of Ascension since 2008. Prior to serving at Ascension, Pastor Josh served as pastor of a congregation in Columbus, Ohio. His ministry began in college when he was a summer camp counselor. There he experienced the positive impact a fun and loving Christ-centered community had on youth. His summer camp experience translated into work as a youth director at a congregation in Columbus. As a youth director, he soon felt a call into ordained ministry. After completing his degree at Ohio State in Fine Arts, he attended seminary at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus. Before being ordained, he and his wife, Kate, served as Peace Corps volunteers in Bulgaria. Today they have three children. Pastor Josh enjoys riding his bike, kayaking on the Little Miami River, creating art, and doing a variety of projects around his home, including getting his hands dirty in the garden.
Hyejin Pak is Ascension’s keyboardist. A native of Seoul, South Korea, Hyejin is currently a student at University of Cincinnati – College Conservatory of Music. She completed her master’s and hopes to earn her doctorate in two more years. Her goals is to teach and perform as a concert pianist. In addition to playing the piano, which she started at age 7, Hyejin’s other interests include reading and enjoying parks and nature.
Jean Mueller, Sunday School Director
Jean is the mother of two and grandmother of 5. She and her husband Steve have lived in Cincinnati for over thirty years and have been members of Ascension since moving to Montgomery in 1977. She enjoys being a part of the bell choir and chancel choir at Ascension. A retired public school teacher, Jean enjoys working with the members of Ascension to plan activities and a diversified Sunday School program that will nurture the children at Ascension as they grow in faith and their understanding of God’s plan for their lives.
Jenny Balachandran, Administrative Assistant
Jenny Balachandran serves as Ascension’s Administrative Assistant. Jenny is a native of the Twin Cities in Minnesota but moved to Seattle as a high school student. She graduated with a degree in English from the University of Washington. Jenny enjoys playing piano and writing poetry. She also has a passion for gardening. Jenny is a part-time staff member. She is pleased to use her skills for Ascension’s church family.
Will Ayers, Director of Music Ministries
Will serves as Ascension's director of music ministries, directing the chancel and bell choirs. He is currently a PhD candidate, graduate student fellow, and instructor of music theory at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. He grew up in west Tennessee and started singing and learning to read music in high school. He went to college at Belmont University in Nashville where he met his wife, Jenni, while singing in school opera productions. They enjoy going to see the Reds play, watching University of Tennessee football, and going to listen to their friends play music around Cincinnati.
