Staff at Ascension
Pastor Josh Miller
Pastor Josh has served as pastor of Ascension since 2008. Prior to serving at Ascension, Pastor Josh served as pastor of a congregation in Columbus, Ohio. His ministry began in college when he was a summer camp counselor. There he experienced the positive impact a fun and loving Christ-centered community had on youth. His summer camp experience translated into work as a youth director at a congregation in Columbus. As a youth director, he soon felt a call into ordained ministry. After completing his degree at Ohio State in Fine Arts, he attended seminary at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus. Before being ordained, he and his wife, Kate, served as Peace Corps volunteers in Bulgaria. Today they have three children. Pastor Josh enjoys riding his bike, kayaking on the Little Miami River, creating art, and doing a variety of projects around his home, including getting his hands dirty in the garden.
Jenny Balachandran, Administrative Assistant
Jenny Balachandran serves as Ascension’s Administrative Assistant. Jenny is a native of the Twin Cities in Minnesota but moved to Seattle as a high school student. She graduated with a degree in English from the University of Washington. Jenny enjoys playing piano and writing poetry. She also has a passion for gardening. Jenny is a part-time staff member. She is pleased to use her skills for Ascension’s church family.
Jean Mueller, Sunday School Director
Jean is the mother of two and grandmother of 5. She and her late husband Steve joined Ascension when they moved to Montgomery in 1977. She enjoys being a part of the bell choir and chancel choir at Ascension. A retired public school teacher, Jean enjoys working with the members of Ascension to plan activities and a diversified Sunday School program that will nurture the children at Ascension as they grow in faith and their understanding of God’s plan for their lives.
Becky Bromwell, Director of Music Ministries
Becky, a native of Findlay, Ohio, joined our staff in late 2017. She graduated from Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, where she pursued a triple major in voice performance, trumpet performance, and music education. She and her husband Paul and their children reside in Fairfield, Ohio. Becky began her music ministry career at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in West Chester, where she served for 10 years. Following that, she served at Groesbeck United Methodist. She came to Ascension from Christ the King Lutheran Church in Centerville, Ohio. She has mastered 30 instruments and gives private lessons in voice, trumpet, piano, harp, flute, clarinet, and sax.
