Explore the various ways in which Ascension strives to serve others.
Refugee Resettlement Ministry
The Refugee Resettlement Ministry responds to current events and international crises. Refugees fleeing inhumane conditions in their homelands arrive in Cincinnati with very little and need outreach and support as they begin rebuilding their lives in a new and unknown land. Our ministry aims to actively help refugees along in their journey by collecting donations of furniture and basic household items, providing transportation to English and citizenship classes, and inviting children and families to join us for Vacation Bible School and other church activities.
Healing Touch Ministry
Healing Touch is a therapy offered by trained practitioners that helps to restore balance and energy that has been depleted due to stress, illness, injury, grief, medical conditions, surgery or medical treatments. The goal of Healing Touch is to restore harmony and balance in the human energy system by creating an optimal environment to enable the body’s innate tendency for healing to occur.
N.E.E.D.S. (Northeast Emergency Distribution Services)
N.E.E.D.S. is a cooperative group of concerned community churches and civic organizations serving our area with emergency food and financial assistance (rent, utilities, medical expenses) and, in August, school supplies. Housed at Kenwood Baptist Church, volunteers work in the Food Pantry and the Wheel of Friendship coordinates Ascension’s on-going food donations.
OneHeart Prayer Team
OneHeart is a prayer and encouragement ministry strengthening our prayer life. This team provides a space for prayers of intercession responding to the needs of our congregation. Gatherings include prayer and notes of encouragement as an outreach to others.
Mission Trips
Mission Louisville, July 2025
Annual mission trips in Cincinnati and out-of-state offer the opportunity to serve others for a one-week immersive experience. Youth and adults volunteer through social service agencies in various settings. Mission trips are also the time that friendships blossom, relationships deepen, and spirituality awakens.
First Lutheran in Over-the Rhine
We support the ministry of First Lutheran Church in Over-the-Rhine to the homeless and those in need through donations of used adult clothing and toiletry items. There are also opportunities to help with First Lutheran’s clothing distribution or serve at its free lunch program on Mondays.
