You Are Welcome Here!

7333 Pfeiffer Road
Montgomery, Ohio 45242

Q: What should I expect? We have a large parking lot, so park where you like. You’ll be greeted by an usher or two who can answer any questions you have about the building layout or other logistics. Service begins at 10:15, with the liturgy following the traditional Lutheran mixture of music, prayer, scripture, and preaching. We call our minister “pastor.” Our music is diverse! Sometimes we sing traditional hymns; at other times we sign contemporary praise and worship style hymns. Our preaching is rooted in the scriptures, especially the gospels. We have an “open table,” which means all are welcome to receive communion who wish to do so. You can also come forward for a blessing from the pastor or stay in your seat (no pressure!). Everything you need is printed in the worship bulletin, so no worries about knowing things beforehand. After service, you’re welcome to participate in fellowship and coffee hour. That’s a great time to tell us more about you and to ask questions about us!

Q: What should I wear/bring? There’s no dress code, so you’ll see some people dressed up and others in more casual clothing. As for bringing anything, we have you covered (bulletin, Bible, hymnal).

Q: What if I have kids with me? Children are welcome at Ascension! You’ll see other children around. In the fall, there is Sunday school for children that begins at nine. There’s a children’s bulletin for children to color, and a little coloring station toward the back of the sanctuary. Just outside the sanctuary is an area where you can take your child to play or cry while still watching the service through the windows. Toward the beginning of the service, children are welcome to come forward for the children’s message.

Q: What if I’m totally new to Christianity or religion in general? Come as you are! Everyone starts somewhere on the journey of faith. And we welcome people who are curious or who are seeking connection. Ask your questions; share your story.

Q: What about accessibility? Our church is totally handicap accessible. From having reserved parking close to the building to having an elevator inside. Need other accommodations? Let us know.
